Degarellx is used in the treatment of prostate cancer.
How degarelix works
Degallx 80 (Degarelix) reduces the amount of testosterone (male hormone) produced by the body. This can slow down or stop the spread and growth of prostate cancer cells that need testosterone to grow.
Common side effects of Degalix 80 degarellx
Hot flashes, reactions at the injection site (pain, swelling, redness), weight gain, elevated liver enzymes, low sexual desire, erectile dysfunction
- Degarelix helps in the treatment of progressive hormone-dependent prostate cancer.
- It is given by injection under the skin (subcutaneously), usually in the abdomen.
- This may cause dizziness and blurred vision. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how it affects you.
- It can cause hot flashes. Try wearing loose clothing and avoiding alcohol, caffeine, and spicy foods.
- Tell your doctor if you have diabetes or have problems with your heart, kidneys, or liver.
- Your doctor may check your prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level in your blood. This is to keep track of how well Degarelix works for you. A decrease in PSA levels is usually a sign that your treatment is working.
